What about implementing a DMA system to copy memory blocks asynchronally from FAST to CHIP? That way we can implement 50 hz effects using full screen, even HAM6/HAM8 ones. Or going hires 256 colors... I know many people will prefer to skip AGA completely and going RTG, or using the FPGA AGA replace...

Your custom switcher is (physically) in the way of the Vampire in any case. Apart from that, the Vampire loads the Kickstart from it's onboard flash and ignores the ROM in the socket. Starting with the Gold 2.7 release, the Vampire features "MapROM". With that feature, you can load the Kick 1.3 from...

I do routinely run 1280x720@50 Hz. Please note that with higher resolutions (=pixel clock) and screen depth, the Vampire will have to share more of the memory bandwidth to the video out. If you have the time and patience, tune the Picasso96 parameters for your own monitor. You should optimize "Frame...

I think that some clarifications are in order here. The Vampire does _NOT_ disable AutoConfiguration and AutoBoot on Z-II SCSI controllers. The respective firmware ROM on said controllers is relatively often the culprit. There have been also incompatibilities along the way when 68040/68060 cards cam...

Prerequisites for SDNet are a Vampire card (V500 or V600), along with the Gold2.5 release. In terms of additional hardware, a suitable Micro SD breakout, a 3.3V ENC28J60 module and some easy soldering are required. Please be careful with the breakout. Many MicroSD models use a thick PCB that will qu...

Gold 2.7 will bring the MapROM feature to the public.

See here for a demo:

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but does the V500 have a header to connect the the HDD LED on the front of the case (in my instance, of an A2000)? As TuKo wrote, the Vampire itself doesn't have a separate LED header. But the signal you're looking for is available on the IDE. I routed the acti...

It's nice to hear that you've found the issue. Trackdisk.device from BB4 is known to have issues but I didn't expect it to cause such serious problems.

My recommendation would be to be careful with all of the BB4 stuff - unless you invest sufficient time for thorough testing.

This symptom is a little bit annoying and can be fixed. But it's also harmless. The boot picture does free the allocated memory after showing the picture. Thus, when another program in the startup-sequence allocates FastMem from the top of the list, it will get some that falls into the boot picture ...

The correct SetPatch line is setpatch SKIPROMMODULES "scsi.device,filesystem,exec.library" QUIET Due to the revised FastMem detection mechanisms, exec 45.xx will work in general with the updated Kickstart. But the Exec from BoingBag2 does neither offer any benefits over the one included in the Gold2...
