Or does it require a new board?
The Parasite is an extension Board for the Vampire. So yes, new Hardware
There will be at least two versions of the Board. For Denise Chips in DIP Package (e.g. A500,A2000) and for Denise Chips in PLCC Package (e.g. A600 , like in the Photo shown above).

The Parsite is connected to the Vampire with a Flat Flex Cable (FFC/FPC) and some sort of Adapter which connects to the Vampire Expansion Port on V500+ or SD Socket on Vampire V500 and V600.

Currently some research is going on with the SD Socket, trying to "share" the Socket with Parasite and a SD Card at the same time.

Thanks, I was wondering how the Parasite connects to the Vampire.

Hope that the Parasite will work with the (also unreleased) SD Ethernet too.

The SD Card slot is a nice idea, but a little strange because normally there is no way to reach it.

:o :!: want!

ooh ooh ooh! i just had a thought... can we make the DIP version shaped to fit an A3000's denise socket aswell please? ... y'know... just incase an A3000 compatible vampire ever sees the light of day :D

i guess the A1200/A4000/CD32 version would be the same clipping over the Alice chip... but thats waaaaay down the line!

Ok, so an add on board, but should hopefully work with the likes of the A500 v2+

Anything that doesn't rob the board of a potential Ethernet solution at the same time would be excellent! - As I have a hope that when my A500 v2+ arrives, it will at some point be able to do Ethernet, faster / easier than PLIP / SLIP :)

Also, technically is the Parasite pulling 'vide out data' off of the chip (and presumably writing it into the Vampire framebuffer)? - As I know there was talk at one point of emulating OCS/ECS/AGA in the FPGA

On V500+ Parasite will connect to the Expansion Header, so SD is still free for "other" stuff or even a SD Card

Parasite pulls indeed the Video Data off the Denise Chip, but on the FPGA is no Framebuffer . A Framebuffer would introduce some sort of lag. And we want to be 'lag free'. There is a small ammount of lag intruduced by our scheme , but that lag is very very small and unoticable by *any* human (64 microseconds exactly, thats one video line)

wow, looks and sounds great!
agreed though the thing that would be a killer; is lag within the human range of experience. that's the thing that killed me with the n64, there just "felt" like a disconnect between my hands/the controller and the action on screen.

awesome work all
