Aww why can't we have the A1200 first? The A500/600 have already had a version to buy ;) Hehe
Great news though, eagerly waiting on the price!

wow this is great news! I am still waiting for my paid Vampire 500+ board to arrive (was supposedly shipped out July1??) BUT now that the Vampire V4 will be available stand along I'm willing to wait for it and give the 500+ board to someone in line.

@ MODS

who can I speak to about making this happen?? thanks :)

Few thoughts I have had.

Can the two IDE connectors be used together or are they just copies of each other?
Is the 720p video out a hardware or software limitation?
I guess this is final design, but some decent mounting holes for the standalone version would be great (maybe a later revision?) Even just 4 holes in the corners

How does the A1200 version attach?

Can a board brought for a machine be converted into a stand alone device?

Damn that sounds bossy! Please don't take it as being demands! I am only excited about getting one and am very curious about design and the thoughts behind them :D

No Software Limitation of P96, 1080P was already shown working with V2, but only at 24hz (and it's not fast, takes a fair chunk out of mem and cpu performance)
720P is pretty optimal also on v2 it runs nice&fast for me.

Hi. The specifications say the chip is a "Altera Cyclone V A5". What does that mean for speed in comparison to the V2 versions? What kind of guesstimate is there on speed of the V4 machines?

I'll want to get a couple of the 68000 Socket versions (1000/2000) and a V1200 version for sure. Hopefully they'll be even faster, and hopefully with a well functioning FPU. :) (fingers crossed!)

Good work guys and Thanks. :)
